Wondering what to do today when the weather is so unbelievably hot. Why not ice-skate? I know you think I’m crazy throwing an idea like ice-skating out to you in the warmest time of the year, but think of the irony.
In Lake Worth, there is a place where you can choose either to ice skate or roller skate. Of course, not in the same rink, I’m not that crazy. At Palm Beach Skate Zone Ice & Inline Center you can do both. Just off Lake Worth Avenue near the Florida Turnpike, you’ll find the buildings right off the road. Here you will find the options for ice-skating to be regular public skating, where you come (you and your friends) and skate with the general public and skate until your legs give out or rent the rink for a more private event such as a birthday party or a corporate team building exercise. You can join a hockey class if you interested. They cater to both the youth and adult groups for hockey instruction as well as learning figure skating.
If you aren’t sure that ice-skating is not your thing then why not try roller-skating? Brings back childhood memories of afternoons skating around and around to the music. Again, just as the ice-skating, they have public skating and group rentals as well. If you feel like a sport, sign up for their youth or adult roller hockey (no blades, just wheels).
Just a short drive from there is Atlantis Skateway in Greenacres. The skating rink is solely for roller-skating and will keep you skating to the music all afternoon. Look on their schedule of events for such things as “Old School Night” with 80’s music to skate to and “Family Night” for the kids and parents to play. They also will set up a birthday party for you and your group.
So, give yourself a break from the daily grind and take a spin around a rink one day. Happy times!
