Resort Food - Not Just Room Service

Are you staying in a Palm Beach County resort and feeling hungry
but not wanting to venture too far from your resort?

Well, here are three resort restaurants worth stepping out of your room and trying.
Even if you aren’t staying at either of these resorts, you might consider a short trip for the evening.

As I said last issue, the resorts and hotels in Palm Beach County have a wide variety of restaurants and quite a few are worthy of a visit while you are in town. These three listed below are a small sampling of what is really out there for you to enjoy, but consider the three restaurants a start on your resort dining this season.

Atlantic Grille – Delray Beach
Located in the Seagate Hotel & Spa along bustling Atlantic Avenue, the Atlantic Grille is quite a modern Seafood adventure. The interior of this restaurant is a combination of deep rich wood and warm tile with just enough glass and light to make it cozy. Should you feel the need for some air, there is a small dining patio in the corner that will suffice. To start off your meal try either the Lobster Risotto or the Crab Cocktail for something different. For your main entrée I would suggest the Pan-Seared Scallops (with artichokes, asparagus, onions, mushrooms and tomato jam) or the Grilled Mahi-Mahi (with a three-potato hash). Of course, there are beef and chicken options to choose from but why not go seafood in a place named after the ocean. Of course you may finish your meal with a nice after dinner cocktail and dessert, but in the spirit of the season why not try their Peppermint Hot Cocoa? It’s like a dessert in a mug.

The Leopard Lounge Restaurant – Palm Beach
Situated in the heart of Palm Beach is the Chesterfield Hotel, the Leopard Lounge Restaurant is a throwback to old Palm Beach. Saying that is not a bad thing at all; it conjures up old money, great service and a carefree experience. The restaurant is bright and cheery with loads of red fabric, dark leather and of course leopard print scattered around the room. Known for the lounge itself and the live entertainment, the food is quite a showstopper itself. You can never go wrong with the 8 oz. Colorado Filet Mignon or the 14 oz. Aged Char-grilled Prime Strip Steak. Feel like skipping beef, order the Chili Prawn Linguini for something different or the Chicken Paillard. And the dessert menu is filled with many specialty coffees and sweet treats such as Tiramisu with Dark Chocolate, English Sticky Toffee Pudding or the Mile High Key Lime Pie. After dinner stick around and enjoy a cocktail with the numerous guests filling the lounge for an evening of music and fun.

Angle – Manalapan
At the far southern end of Palm Beach is Manalapan, this is where you will find the world famous Ritz Carlton resort. The resort itself has around five or six different dining options, but for a truly “unique” cuisine adventure I suggest trying Angle – a higher end restaurant option. Angle is their supper club, a room filled with modern yet classic furniture in rich tones of chocolate with velvet and mirrors to emphasize the space. The menu is quite opulent with various seafood dishes as well as beef entrees for those not feeling the seafood vibe that night. To start off, perhaps you might try their Key West Pink Shrimp or the Duck Confit Pot Pie. Or perhaps you might splurge on the Osetra Caviar Tacos or the “Angle Iced For Two” with oysters, lobster, stone crab and Key West pink shrimp. I do recommend not being on a tight budget in this restaurant. For dinner, consider one of these seafood options, either the Pacific Halibut or the Key West Snapper. For those craving meat try either the Black Angus Filet or the Lamb Ribeye & Shoulder. You can’t go wrong with either dish. The dessert menu has such fare as Molten Chocolate Cake or an Apple Cobbler for two. Then stroll the beach for an after dinner treat.

Now that you have a feel for some of what the resorts have offered you, why not venture out and try a few other hotel and resort dining venues? You will never know what’s out there unless you ask. Pay a visit to your concierge or guest service desk and ask what they think might be a fun place to eat tonight.
